What is LED light therapy?
Looking for a gentle way to get your skin looking its healthiest and most radiant? LED light therapy may be the treatment you have been searching for, and a session takes only around 15 to 20 minutes.
LED light therapy is painless, non-invasive and suitable for all skin types, so almost anyone can enjoy it and see a genuine improvement in how their skin looks and feels.
How it works
As a form of low-level light therapy, LED gently supports your skin's natural cellular recovery and encourages collagen production. This leads to a higher rate of skin cell renewal and a faster healing process. In practice, that means softer lines, better hydration and skin that simply looks healthier and more radiant.
One of the best things about LED is that it uses light without heat, so there is no downtime. You can head straight back to your day knowing your skin is being supported at a cellular level.
Beautiful on its own, brilliant alongside other treatments
Because LED is gentle and supports recovery and healing, it pairs beautifully with other treatments such as clinical peels, skin needling or a vitamin infusion, helping you see results sooner and keeping downtime to a minimum.
The technology we use
There are many LED devices on the market, and at The Skin Boutique we use one of the most respected: the Healite II. Developed from decades of research in light therapy, the Healite II uses different light wavelengths to target different layers of the skin for more noticeable results.
Blue light (415nm)
Primarily used to target active acne and breakouts. It helps address the bacteria associated with acne, and has calming, anti-inflammatory and healing properties.
Red light (633nm)
Reaches the deeper dermis and helps stimulate blood flow to the skin, encouraging collagen production for healthy, naturally hydrated and radiant skin. Many people also find it deeply relaxing.
Near-infrared light (830nm)
Penetrates deeper still, promoting skin rejuvenation and supporting cellular and wound healing by encouraging blood flow. This is what makes LED such a wonderful companion to other skin treatments.
How often should you have LED?
To get the most from LED, we often recommend two treatments in the first week for the best possible start. After that, your skin therapist will advise how often to come in based on your skin and your goals. LED can also be added to most of our other skin treatments to boost results and reduce downtime.
